Work with me

I’m Órlagh. I’m an engineer, and I work with women in engineering who are good at their jobs – genuinely good – and are tired of having to prove it over and over again in environments that weren’t built with them in mind.

I’ve been in engineering for over two decades. I’ve built teams from scratch, navigated organisations that didn’t quite know what to do with me, and come out the other side with a clear view of what the real problems are and what actually helps. That’s what I bring to this work.

If you’ve been reading the blog and thinking “this is exactly it” – that’s the version of you I work with.

For individual women engineers

One-to-one coaching

This is for you if you’re a woman in engineering – at any stage of your career – who knows something isn’t working but isn’t sure if the problem is you or the system. (Spoiler: it’s usually the system. But there’s still plenty we can do.)

WE MIGHT WORK ON THINGS LIKE

  • Understanding what’s actually happening when you feel underestimated, overlooked, or stuck
  • Salary negotiation – knowing your number, building your case, having the conversation
  • Moving into leadership without losing yourself in the process
  • Figuring out what you actually want next, and what’s getting in the way
  • Navigating a specific difficult situation – a micromanagement problem, a hostile colleague, a promotion that keeps not happening

HOW IT WORKS

We start with a free 30-minute call to talk about where you are and what you’re dealing with. If it seems like coaching would help, we’ll agree on a structure that makes sense for your situation. Most people work with me for between three and six months, though some engagements are shorter if the focus is specific.

INVESTMENT

I work on a sliding scale, because I think access matters.

  • If you’re currently out of work or a full-time student: get in touch. I offer a number of free sessions for people in that position.
  • If you’ve worked with me before in a professional context: you get a 20% discount, no questions asked.
  • For everyone else: my rate is €250 per hour.

If cost is a concern at all, reach out before you assume you can’t afford it. I’d rather have that conversation than have you not get the help you need.

For engineering organisations

If you’re an engineering director, HR lead, or senior leader who knows your organisation has a retention problem when it comes to women – or suspects it does, even if nobody is saying it out loud – this is for you.

I don’t do tick-box diversity training. I work with organisations that genuinely want to understand what’s happening in their teams, and are prepared to do something about it.

Pipeline and retention review

I’ll work with you to understand where women are leaving your organisation and why – not the official reasons, the real ones. We’ll look at your hiring practices, your progression data, your working culture, and where the gaps are between what you say you offer and what the experience actually is.

You’ll come out of this with a clear picture of what’s happening and a practical set of recommendations – not a glossy report that sits in a drawer.

Team and leadership development

I work with engineering teams and their leaders on the specific cultural and structural issues that drive women out: invisible workload, credibility gaps, sponsorship that never quite happens, feedback that isn’t actionable.

This can take the form of workshops, facilitated sessions, or longer consultancy engagements depending on what you need.

Speaking

I speak at conferences, company events, and internal leadership programmes on women in engineering, the leaky pipeline, and what organisations can actually do about it. I’ve spoken on the Standard Issue podcast and I’m available for keynotes and panel discussions.

Why work with me

There are a lot of people offering DEI consultancy. Most of them come from HR or activist backgrounds. I come from engineering. I’ve run teams, managed budgets, navigated organisations, and dealt with the same structural nonsense that your people are dealing with right now.

That means I can sit in a room with your engineering directors and have a credible conversation. It means I know the difference between a policy problem and a culture problem. And it means I won’t tell your women engineers to “just be more confident” – because I know that’s not the issue.

I want there to be equal numbers of men and women in engineering before I die. That’s not a slogan. It’s why I do this work.”

Not sure where to start?

Start with a conversation. The free 30-minute call is no-pressure – we’ll talk about your situation, I’ll tell you honestly whether I think I can help, and we’ll go from there.
